There’s no rabbit in a hat, or coins picked behind ears at The Magician—just good company and cheap drinks. A Lower East Side staple for decades, this unpretentious dive bar is a neighborhood favorite offering ample seating, as well as a moderately lit space that smells like beer and old wood. While the magic of after-work drinks and a good jukebox song won’t pull the wool over your eyes, you’ll feel just like Dorothy Gale when you leave the bar: in awe of what happens while sleeping.
